Collection: Black Acacia

Black Acacia is misleading, as there are no black hues ever seen in its grains. Highly-figured lumber is not uncommon and colors vary, but tend to be medium golden or reddish brown, similar to Koa or Mahogany.

Other than the occasional tear out issues associated with lumber with interlocking grains, the Black Acacia is very easily worked. It turns, glues, finishes well and also bends easily, which — combined with its toughness and durability — has made it an historically popular wood for boat building.

It's highly scratch resistant in comparison to other hardwoods.

Uses

Acacia has proven itself to be an extremely durable wood. Its density and hardness makes it the perfect material for heavy-use pieces.

Black Acacia wood is found in these kinds of objects:

  • Dining tables and dining benches (When properly maintained, these pieces will last decades)
  • Cabinets
  • Paneling
  • Billiard tables
  • Interior joinery
  • Gunstocks
  • Ornamental turnery
  • Boat building
  • Flooring.
